Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Applicants need the following requirements to be eligible for the Gates scholarship.

  1. Required Languages: Candidates must be experts in English to be eligible for this Scholarship.
  2. Eligible countries: Candidates from all world countries be eligible for this scholarship.
  3. Applicant must belong to one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American
  4. Applicants must be a high school senior
  5. Applicants need to Qualify for Pell Grants
  6. Applicants must be US citizens, national, or permanent resident
  7. Applicants must obtain good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  8. Additionally, applicants must plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US-accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university.
